Thank You, Sid

I literally remember exactly where I was the moment Sid Justice was first shown on WWF television.

It was the weekend of my brother's Barmitzvah, and while there was lots of activity around my house, WWF Superstars was on the television. I was filming something-or-other with my camcorder when I stopped in my tracks and looked at the television set. Sid Justice was coming to the WWF!

Of course, we were aware of The Master and Ruler of the World long before that moment. As one of The Skyscrapers with Danny Spivey, Sid was one of the most imposing people in wrestling this side of Andre The Giant. He was not only huge, but incredibly muscular and had a look unlike many that came before - or after - him. I remember watching him compete live in Toronto at a house show against Lex Luger, and thinking that the hype behind Sid was real.

Following The Skyscrapers, Sid Vicious became one of The Four Horsemen and, at Hallowe'en Havoc 1990, nearly won the WCW Championship from Sting (had only the Fake Sting not been revealed as Barry Windham). He kind of languished around the upper midcard for the remainder of his first WCW run.

While his WWF run wasn't as memorable as it could have been, Sid remains one of the only people to have captured two World Championships in both WWF and WCW. Plus he headlined WrestleMania XIII against The Undertaker, which is quite impressive in itself. And then you remember Sid's body of work against Hulk Hogan, Diesel, Goldberg, Shawn Michaels and so many other giants of the business, and you appreciate his body of work for what it was.

Thank you, Sid, for all of the memories over the years. Justice has been served.
