WWE Retro figures are the spiritual successor to the WWF Hasbro figures of the 1990s. Small, chunky and packed with "action moves," Mattel introduced the line in 2018, creating a nostalgia fix for long-time collectors, while also creating something fun for newer figure collectors.
A menu of reviews for each series in the collection can be found at the bottom of this page. For now, let's take a closer look at Series Five...
Series Five begins with an nWo version of Randy Macho Man Savage. For Hasbro fans who have multiple versions of the Macho Man already (orange trunks, Macho King, commentator), this is a welcome addition. And oddly enough, I have at least two different WCW figures of Savage in this same gear. While the taped wrists are probably left over from Dean Ambrose or something, the rest of this figure is perfect. Oooooh yeah!
The rest of this set are members of The New Day - Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E. Kudos to Mattel for giving them matching pink and blue outfits. The headscans on Woods and E are perfect, although Kingston looks as though he's been sampling the goods from his old "Jamaican Me Crazy" gimmick... if you get my meaning.
While this isn't the most amazing set of Retros, all four are decent figures that you need for your collection. So I'm feeling the power of positivity with this one.
